Name: Phan Thị Chau (Phan is her family name, Thị her middle name)
Nicknames: Her name does not really lend itself for a nickname and she usually goes by Chau. However, she has been called Fan before, and a certain boy has dubbed her Angela.
Born: 8th of August 1723 (went to Sybal Heim in the year 1741 and time travelled 143 years. Came to Sybal Heim in the year 1884)

Chau is unsure what exactly Sybal Heim is, but she does see it as a holy place--a refuge for those who needed it. As for many others, it is a second chance for her and she will defend that second chance if she has to, more so for her friends than for herself.
Chau started her training as a nurse in 1891 and completed it in 1892. Since then, she has been working in the hospitals in Heilig and is now specialized in acupressure.
Sybal Form: Karuṇā / Luminous Joy / Firefly
The Karuṇā is named after the aspiration to find a way to be truly helpful to oneself and others, which describes the most important aspect of the small Sybal.
Chau's Sybal form is a mix of a small-clawed otter and a flying fish. Her wings are strong enough to carry her, though they have not always been, and she can often be found flying through Sybal Heim. She is not very fast while flying, but surprisingly agile. Including her tail she is about 40 inches in length (1 m) and she weighs about 15 lbs (7 kg). Her wing span is 4'9 (1,5 m).
Due to a series of events in 1892 and 1893--including the cancelled wedding--Chau learned to become more independent and stand on her own two feet instead of leaning on others all the time. This resulted in a small change in her Sybal in the shape of retractable claws (as she had none before), small spikes on her wings and sharper fangs.
Sybal Power: Kirlian Eye
When in her Sybal form, the passive form of Chau's power enables her to read people's Auras. An Aura is a normally invisible field of energy surrounding all Sybals. The strength of an Aura is mainly based in that Sybal's emotions and energy. When reading an Aura, Chau gets information about the person's emotions and feelings, as well as their health. For example, she can sense when someone is badly injured but not when someone only has a small cut.
Being able to read Auras also enables her to see people even when they are invisible (unless their power counteracts it). Furthermore, she can see people through walls or behind objects, as long as they are close enough (within a radius of 8-10 m, depending on how thick the walls are).
Recently, in 1890, Chau discovered a new aspect of her power. She found out that she is not only capable of seeing a person's emotional energy, but also able to take it away.
When someone experiences a strong emotion (anger, excitement, fear) their energy spikes and in that moment, Chau is able to take a part of that energy and harbour it in her own body for a while, before it flows back to its owner. She can only hold it for a few seconds, ten seconds tops, depending on the kind of energy.
When taking away one's energy, for example when someone is mad, it gives them a breather and they lose the edge of their temper for a moment. It will flow back after a while, when Chau cannot hold it any longer, and they will feel their anger again. However, sometimes taking a deep breath is all you need.
Using her power like this drains both her energy and her spirits, and she can only do it a limited amount of times.
Docile or Feral: Feral
When Chau changes into her Sybal form, her core traits take over and turn her into a very curious little critter, eager to help and longing for affection. She will actively seek out other Sybals to socialize with, though she will tend to avoid Sybals who have a more hostile nature and / or mood. As a Sybal, she is very friendly, well behaved and a little nosy. The thing that she is mostly compelled to do is to help people in need. Once she senses them, she is unable to turn back and will go to their aide, which often results in dangerous situations.

Chau is a warm and kind person who loves to be around people and lend a hand here and there. She is a great listener and will lend an ear to anyone who needs to talk. However, she does not feel very comfortable talking about herself and it can be hard to get to know her. She is not afraid to speak her mind, and will defend her friends if she has to. Furthermore, once someone gets on her bad side (which is pretty hard) it is very difficult to get to her good side again. Due to her strict upbringing she can come off as reserved but never disrespectful.
History:
Chau was born to a wealthy merchant family from Vietnam and has always been shielded from the outside world by her parents. She always longed to be strong and powerful like the woman Trưng Trắc and her younger sister Trưng Nhị, who were said to have raised an army of 80.000 to defeat the Chinese, centuries ago. She did not understand why she could not grow up to be like them too. Go out, explore the world, become a hero. Instead, she was locked between the four walls of her parent's house.
When she was eighteen years old, Chau was finally allowed to leave the house and explore parts of the city she had never been before. As Chau explored the city, she happened upon a much poorer part of the area, despite her guard's warnings not to go there. There she was confronted with poverty, a phenomenon completely unknown to her. Chau is, and has always been, a girl whose nature it is to help people, and seeing the way these people lived made her heart break into a million pieces.
After that experience, she became disgusted with her own rich and wealthy lifestyle. She longed to help, but her failed attempt to do so left her scarred and bereft of motivation.
A few months passed by and one day she came upon the outskirts of a forest. At first she was surprised; she was not aware of any forests nearby? As far as she knew, the city was surrounded by farmland. There was a strange pull coming from the forest and feeling like she had nothing to lose, she went in, leaving the guard to wait for her return. She did not know what exactly she expected to find, but it sure wasn't Theo.
Now, she is all settled in the Immortal City, and works as a nurse in the hospital of Heilig. On top of that, she opened up a mini restaurant where people can come in for a free meal every other weekend.
Additional Info:
- While she loves exploring other cultures and traditions, she will always be a Buddhist.
- She is quite a good cook and loves spicy things. On the flip side, she does not like sweet things and cannot bake very well.
- Chau does not like dancing. She had to take lessons back home but was never good at it as it was very strict and always in a group. Chau just did not fit in, and thus developed a dislike for dance. However, Edwin did manage to get her to dance at the Sybal Gala in 1893.
- She is a yoga fanatic.
- She gets quite annoyed when people talk very badly of Basileus. She also generally feels uncomfortable when people have really bad manners and behaviour or are very rude, mostly because she is not used to it and does not know how to respond or act around them.
- Coming from a wealthy family, Chau has excellent manners and is very well behaved and respectful.
- Bad at math, especially at night
- After a bad experience in summer 1892 which left a foul taste in her mouth, Chau developed the habit to nibble jerky when nervous. She never goes without a few pieces in her pockets.
